Welcome new research partner, Scion!

We are delighted to welcome Scion (a Crown Research Institute based in Rotorua) as a research partner – one of nine organisations* to recently sign a Research Collaborators Agreement under the new funding contract with Massey University and MPI-NZ Food Safety.  This is another important landmark in ‘phase two’ of the Centre’s operation.

The relationship with Scion will be further strengthened with Kate Parker, Scion’s Packaging Research Team Leader, joining the Centre’s Science Leadership Team.  Packaging has become an important and challenging food safety issue – our food industry needs support to find safe and sustainable replacements for traditional plastic.

The Centre’s next contribution to FoodNZ (NZIFST’s magazine) will look at where we’re at with new packaging formats.
