FoodNZ June 2025 issue: Alarm sounded on microplastics – where are we at with replacing traditional plastics for food packaging?

In the latest issue of FoodNZ, page 12, the Centre draws attention to the problems of replacing plastic in food packaging, and the increasing need to reduce its use, develop more recyclable or  sustainable options and to better understand any potential health concerns associated with micro-plastics.

‘Food packaging is becoming more and more of an issue for the Centre’s NZ food industry members. And a very knotty one at that, says NZFSSRC Chief Scientist, Distinguished Professor Phil Bremer.’
