Dr Tim Harwood seconded (part time) to MPI for six months

The Centre’s deputy director and leader of the Seafood Safety research programme, Dr Tim Harwood, has been seconded by the Ministry for Primary Industries to spend a couple of days a fortnight at their head office in Wellington, starting in October. He’ll be working with the NZ Food Safety team; primarily the Food Science and Risk Assessment Directorate led by Dr Fiona Thomson-Carter.

This opportunity has arisen through Tim’s role with the Centre, aiming to strengthen linkages between MPI and NZFSSRC. It recognises the great benefits of industry, scientists and regulatory agencies working closely together to identify food safety risks and using science to better understand and reduce them.

Tim is excited by the prospect, but is not looking forward to regular white-knuckle flights into Wellington when the spring winds return.
